Journalist, author, and dedicated chronicler of America's strangest forgotten history.

Kevin J. Guhl

I'm a journalist who has a lifelong obsession with the weird, the forgotten, and the inexplicable. My work isn't about debunking or blindly believing, it's about presenting the facts as I find them, with an objective eye and a whimsical nod to the magic that human nature craves.

Every legend I uncover is tied to real people, real places, and real history. The stories I chase aren't just campfire tales; they're buried in newspaper archives, obscure books, government records, and the faded memories of communities that once took them very seriously.

I've spent years digging through the margins of American history, pulling out the episodes that didn't make it into textbooks but absolutely should have. Thunderbirds and sea serpents, phantom airships and ghost lights, con men and cryptids; these are the threads that make up the strange, rich tapestry of this country's past.

My American Strangeness series collects these investigations into book form, each volume a deep dive into 20+ mostly forgotten stories, thoroughly researched and brought back to life. If you love history, folklore, and the enduring human need to believe in something beyond the ordinary, you're in the right place.
